FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How accurate is the Freelap Timing System?
The Freelap timing system has a accuracy of 2/100 seconds, which is similar to single beam photocell timing systems for running events.
Why should I buy Freelap over other timing gates?
Freelap are the only timing gates that allow you to simulate race conditions at training for individual or multiple athletes. As well as this, they are also the easiest timing system to set up and take up the least amount of track space.
Adding split times is also less expensive than other timing systems.
Freelap timing systems minimise the risk of other athletes walking through beams and setting of false times.
Reflections from the sun resulting in false times are also eliminated by using the Freelap timing systems.
How many athletes can be on the Freelap training course at the same time?
An unlimited number of athletes can be on course at the same time as each transmitter and receiver work independently. All Freelap Receivers can work with all Freelap transmitters. So your club could own only one set of transmitters and all the athletes could use them.
Which start device do I use for athletics?
This depends on the way you intend to start.
For block or 4 point starts use the Tx Touch Pro. For Three point or Block starts use the Tx Pad Pro. For Standing, Three point or Block starts using a 'Set' 'Bang' command use the e-Starter. For multiple athletes use the Space Unit.

For fly-in starts you should use the Tx Junior Pro set to start. Set device on start line and have athlete run towards the device.
What is the best device for Team Sports speed and agility testing. The Tx Pro Team is used to time teams. This can be purchased as a separate unit or as part of the Team Sport stater or advanced pack.
Will the transmitter be triggered by other athletes if they go across the courses split or finish line and affect my time?
Absolutely not. The signal emitted by the Freelap transmitters is only received by the receiver you are carrying.
What is the maximum course length I can time with my Freelap timing system?
There is no maximum length. The only requirement is that the Freelap receiver detects at least 1 freelap transmitter every 60 minutes. This should be plenty!
What is the minimum distance between Two Freelap Transmitters?
The minimum distance is 10m, if athlete is travelling at 10M/S. This is ideal for most of your fly in sprints.
Can I use this in cold temperature?
Definitely! We have spent our share of days testing it in cold winter temperature. The kit can easily be used between -20c to +50c. Also wind or snow wont affect the transmitters so you can get accurate and instant training results no matter how demanding the weather gets.
What kind of batteries does your system use?
All our current products use rechargeable lithium ion batteries Our products offer hundreds of training hours in battery life. Please consult your users guides for the exact model for each product and additional battery life information. These guides can also be viewed in our download section.
Do I have to calibrate or synchronize the Freelap Transmitters?
Nope! Just set them up where you want them push ON and you're ready to train! It’s that simple!
